Author instructions

Oral presentations

If your work has been accepted for oral presentation, you have 25 minutes available for your talk, and 5 minutes for discussion. Please set up your equipment during the break preceding your session and notify the session chair. The lecture room is equipped with a beamer, and a windows desktop computer (pdf, ppt) with a USB port. You may also use your own laptop. All oral presentation will be held in the same lecture hall in the main building of University of Helsinki.

Best student presentation prize

In case the presenting author is a student and wants to enroll in the competition, please let us know by email to mlg08@cis.hut.fi.

Poster presentations

If your work has been accepted for a poster presentation, you have both a spotlight presentation and a poster at the poster session.

For the spotlight presentation, you have a slot of precisely 120 seconds. The session chair will interrupt you after 120 seconds. It is recommended to rehearse your presentation to fit into this tight time frame. The aim of the spotlight presentation is to raise interest in your poster; you should refrain from trying to squeeze in the technical contribution of your paper. For the spotlight presentation you will have the possibility to show at most 2 slides in pdf or powerpoint format. Send your slides before 29.6. by email to mlg08@cis.hut.fi, with the title "MLG poster spotlight", and the body of the message listing the title of your paper, the list of authors, and the presenting author.

For your poster presentation, we provide poster stands with width 950 mm and height 1150 mm (37.4 X 45.3 inches). An A0-poster is 841 X 1189 mm (33.11 X 46.81 inches) and fits these stands (even if the poster is a few centimeters too long.)

The Poster Session will be held at the conference site (main building of University of Helsinki) at 17:30 on Friday. Please set up your poster before the session starts. There will be pins available.
