Abstract:

A new approach to modeling of data in parallel fashion is presented. The optimality criterion of the new data structure is based on the MDL principle. It turns out that the convergence result is equal to the self-organizing map of Kohonen type. The new approach offers concrete interpretations of the adaptation algorithm parameters, thus facilitating further analyses of the results.
