This paper reports a form of aperiodic stochastic res
onance (ASR) observed in a specific experimental con
text. This term is attributed to a phenomenon wherein
the response of a nonlinear system to a periodic or ape
riodic (deterministic or random) input is optimized by
the assistance of noise. Here we provide some elements
of how ASR can be incorporated in signal processing
methods. By coupling it with BSS, we improve the
frequency response of an eddy current proximity sen
sor. Experimental results are presented to validate our
approach.
