<h2 align="left"><font color="#0066CC">Audience</font></h2>
<p>
The aim of the AKRR'08 conference is to bring together scientists who
study complex phenomena in empirical sciences and scientists who
develop computational methods for dealing with complexity. From the
empirical sciences, we especially welcome researchers in cognitive
science, sociology, educational psychology, economics and
medicine. From the methodological sciences, we welcome researchers who
develop, for instance, statistical machine learning, dynamical systems
theory and adaptive systems.
</p>
<p>
The conference also aims to be relevant for practitioners who
encounter complex phenomena continuously and who are looking for new
ways to deal with challenges related to management and strategic
decision making.
</p>

<h2 align="left"><font color="#0066CC">Call for Papers</font></h2>

<p>We invite three kinds of papers:
<ul>
<li>Refereed papers for publication in the Proceedings, up to 8 pages.
 If accepted to be published as proceedings papers, the papers will
 be presented at the conference either as talks or as posters.</li>
<br>
<li>Symposium papers related to one of the special symposia below or
 proposals for a complete 90-minute symposium on current research
 topics. Symposium papers may be up to 8 pages with the exception of
 tutorial like survey papers that may be up to 15 pages.</li>
<br>
<li>Publication or practice based presentations by a) researchers with a
 solid scientific track record of publishing on the topics of their
 proposed talks, or b) established practitioners on a field relevant
 to the area of the conference or one of the symposia. Publication or
 practice based papers may either be submitted as 1-2 page abstracts
 or full papers with up to 8 pages with the exception of tutorial
 like survey papers that may be up to 15 pages. Papers in this
 category will be considered as invited papers.</li>

<h2 align="left"><font color="#0066CC">Proceedings and journal special issue</font></h2>

<p>
The proceedings will include all communications presented to the conference
(tutorials, oral and posters), and will be available on-site. Extended versions
of selected papers will be published in the 
<a href="http://www.elsevier.com/locate/cogsys">Cognitive Systems Research</a> 
journal (Elsevier).
</p>
<p>
The papers that are accepted to be presented in the conference and
included in the Proceedings will be labeled according to their
category (peer reviewed, invited, keynote).
