The Computational Cognitive Systems group
We conduct research on adaptive, autonomous and socio-culturally grounded cognitive systems that are able to learn and use language. We apply and develop computational methods, models and frameworks for adaptive machine translation and socio-cognitive multiagent systems.

- In September 2012, we organized a META-NET workshop
on Machine
Translation and Multimodal Contexts at Lausanne, Switzerland as
a special session in ICANN 2012.
- In May 2012, we contributed to the organization of the
first Federated Computer
Science Event, at the Kumpula campus of the University of Helsinki.
- In January 2012, we organized a seminar on Computational Linguistics, cognitive science and sociology at Congress Centre Dipoli.
- In August 2011, the first part of this
year's Well-being innovation
camp, a summer school on health and well-being, has held in
Vierimäki.
- In June 2011, we were involved in
organizing ICANN'11, an
international conference on artificial neural networks with the topic
"Machine learning re-inspired by brain and cognition".
- In August and September 2010, we were involved in
organizing MLSP 2010,
an IEEE International Workshop on Machine Learning for Signal Processing.
- In August 2010, we were involved in
organizing STeP 2010,
the 14th Finnish conference on Artificial Intelligence.
- In September 2008, we organized AKRR'08 conference on Adaptive Knowledge Representation and Reasoning.
- In November 2006, we were involved in
organizing SCAI 2006,
Scandinavian Conference on Artificial Intelligence.
- Within the KULTA project, Timo Honkela
visited California in November 2006, including visits to Stanford University, Google,
Nokia RC Palo Alto,
UC Berkeley, and
UC Santa Barbara.
